Senior Companion Program/Foster Grandparent Program - GLITC

Additional Information

This program offers seniors age 55 and older the opportunity to serve individuals who have difficulty with daily living tasks. Senior Companions are matched with homebound elders in their community who may be isolated, or they may provide respite to the primary caregivers of homebound elders. They often assist with simple household chores; provide transportation to and from appointments as well as community outings. Alternatively, simply offer companionship.

As a foster grandparent, you are a role model, mentor, and a friend. Serving at various local organizations – including head start, day cares, public schools and after school or summer programs. You can help children learn to read, provide one-on-one tutoring, homework help, and guide children at a critical time in their lives. Your presence will give the kind of comfort and love that sets a child on a path towards a successful future.
